December 17: The SPFL determine Rangers are liable to pay the £250,000 fine levied on RFC 2012 PLC and that they will withhold broadcasting money and other sums due.

Rangers say the appeal will be 'pursued vigorously'. On the same day, a notice of complaint is issued by the SFA alleging Rangers and Ashley have breached duel ownership rules.

December 19: After, according to Somers, interviewing 'a number of high calibre candidates', close Ashley ally Llambias is appointed as chief executive.

December 22: At a passion-fuelled AGM, the Rangers board are given a stormy reception and repeatedly booed and heckled. The performance of Somers infuriated fans and shareholders, with calls for him to quit in the aftermath of a shambolic showing. All board members retain their places, however.

December 29: The SFA announce they have rejected an application for Ashley to increase his shareholding in Rangers to 29.9%.

January 2, 2015: With Rangers toiling in the Championship and their ambitions of automatic promotion all-but over, fans are left furious as Lewis Macleod is flogged to Brentford in a cut-price deal. There is more encouraging news for supporters, however, with the Three Bears consortium - Douglas Park, George Taylor and Letham - acquiring more than 13 million shares as Laxey, furious at the treatment of Crighton, bailed out of Ibrox. January 4: American businessman Robert Sarver makes an £18million bid to gain a controlling interest in Rangers.

January 5: Rangers enter into a £500,000 loan agreement with Sandy Easdale, with the cash used for 'general working capital purposes'. Reports claim it was taken to avoid being wound up by HMRC as another Ashley confidant, Barry Leach, is installed as finance director.

January 8: Sarver increases his offer to £20milllion and the board confirm they are 'consulting with major shareholders' over the proposal. Having banked the cash from the Macleod deal, Rangers repay the £500,000 due to Sandy Easdale.

January 12: The second Sarver bid is rejected and the Phoenix Suns owner pulls out of the Ibrox power battle. In a statement, however, he states 'if they want my support in the future, then they only have to ask.'

January 16: Dave King calls for an EGM to be held to remove Somers, Llambias, Leach and James Easdale from the board. He seeks the appointment of himself, Paul Murray and John Gilligan
