Ronny Deila has told his players to forget about heading to Azerbaijan or Montenegro and focus instead on Wednesday night’s second leg UEFA Champions League second round qualifier against FC Stjarnan.

Celtic currently hold a 2-0 lead over the Icelandic champions but Deila, who side will face either Qarabag of Azerbaijan or Rudar Pljevlja of Montenegro in the third qualifiying round of the competition, assuming they finish off the job next week.

But Deila wwas reluctant to give serious consideration publicly to either team until the tie against Stjarnan is over.

“That is the next round but first we have to get finished with this one and play a good game on Wednesday,” Deila told Celtic TV. “Then we can talk about the next game, if we get a good result.”

Celtic play Spanish side SD Eibar tomorrow evening in a game that celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Basque side.

Deila will use the gma eot further sharpen his side ahead of the return leg against Stjarnan on Wednesday evening, although he is confident that they are edging towards their best.

“We had a lot of good movements and passing on Wednesday. I think we should have been more effctive but the score is good,” he said.

“We are training well. We look quite sharp. Of course we have more to go but it is a good start and I am looking forward to the next games now to get even better.

“It will be an interesting game against Eibar and we are looking forward to playing the game,” he said. “We will use it as a good training match to get us even fitter and to play a good game. “

And Deila is also pleased with the manner in which the players he added to his squad have settled in.

Nadir Ciftci and Dedryck Boyata have been immersed into the playing side of things immediately and Deila feels that the Celtic dressing room is an easy place to settle given the atmosphere within the group.

“They have got well into thegroup and the group is fantastic to bring players in and there is good bonding but on the pitch you can see that they have something to give to the team,” he said.
