MARTYN WAGHORN is delighted at a dream start to the campaign for himself and Rangers as Mark Warburton’s side bid for nine-in-a-row under the new Ibrox boss.
The Light Blues continued their impressive run of form with a 5-1 win over Queen of the South last weekend and host Raith Rovers on Championship duty tomorrow afternoon.
Waghorn bagged a brace at Palmerston as two strikes from twelve yards took his tally for the campaign to six goals from eight outings.
The striker has caught the eye at the head of the Gers’ attacking line following his arrival from Wigan Athletic earlier this summer.
And he is determined to keep picking up the points as Warburton’s side look to extend their advantage at the top of the Championship standings in the coming weeks.
“It was nice [to score]. A double penalty, I will take that. They all count,” he told RangersTV.
“It is important that we are winning and whether it is from a penalty or open play, I don’t mind.
“It is the three points and winning and keeping the momentum going.
“It is a new club for me, there are a lot of new players that have come in and sometimes it takes a while to adapt and settle in.
“But it is a great setup, the gaffer, Davie and all the boys want to play football. We are young, hungry and really ambitious and we want to get back to where Rangers want to be.
“We are all driven, we all know what we want and I think that is contributing to how we are playing.
“It has been incredible really for the amount of changes and the contrast from last year, from what I have heard, to this opening period of the season.
“It is the wins, the feel good factor in the way we are playing and how we are playing and it all contributes to a successful team.”
