Celtic manager Ronny Deila left Callum McGregor out for the match against East Kilbride on Sunday as he was "not ready" to play after being reportedly arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The 22-year-old midfielder was stopped in the early hours of Friday morning in the Robroyston area of Glasgow, the Daily Record said, with a report sent to the procurator fiscal for alleged road traffic offences.
Following Celtic's 2-0 William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round victory over the Lowland League club at Airdrie's Excelsior stadium, Deila confirmed the situation had resulted in McGregor's absence from his team.
"There has been a lot of pressure on him in the last days and he was not ready for playing the game today," said the Norwegian.
Asked for the club's stance on the alleged offence, Deila said: "I can say that we don't like this, this is something we have to react to.
"But at the same time, this is not in our hands, it is now with the police."
