ANDY HALLIDAY is confident Rangers will reap the rewards of their South Carolina training camp during their bid for the Premiership title.

Boss Mark Warburton has put his squad through a gruelling schedule in Charleston over the last fortnight as he stepped up his preparations for the new campaign.

Rangers will play their first competitive outing of the season when they face Motherwell in the Betfred Cup next weekend before the matches with Annan, East Stirlingshire and Stranraer.

A friendly clash at home to Burnley is then their final warm-up game before the top flight schedule starts against Hamilton Accies on Saturday, August 6 at Ibrox.

And midfielder Halliday reckons the Light Blues squad will be in good shape for the big kick-off following their time in the States.

He said: "It's got to have been beneficial to us. It's certainly been tough enough.

“I've spoken to a lot of people around the hotel from Tennessee and San Francisco and they all say that the humidity over here really is something else. But we will see the benefits of it over at Murray Park when we return to the cold weather.

"We might not be hitting the same numbers that we would at Murray Park but that is to be expected. Our resting heart rate is through the roof right now.

"But after two or three days you acclimatise to it more and the numbers get closer to what would be expecting back home.”
