ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has backed former Rangers loan star Gedion Zelalem to have a ‘great career’ in the game as he looks to make an impact at the Emirates this summer.
The midfielder made 28 appearances for Mark Warburton’s side last term as he helped the Light Blues clinch the Championship title and Petrofac Training Cup and reach the Scottish Cup final.
Wenger insisted the American ‘did quite well’ during his time at Ibrox and he will now give Zelalem a chance to impress against an MLS All-Stars side in California on Thursday.
Wenger said: "He might be a bit longer to mature because he is a little bit behind on the body structure.
"But I’m sure he will be a great player who matures maybe a bit slowly physically.
“But overall, I’m convinced that he’ll have a great career. Will he play [on Thursday]? Certainly [he'll be] part of the game."
