PAUL MCGOWAN reckons Dundee deserved a point as they were denied at the death by Rangers on Saturday.
Paul Hartley’s side left Ibrox empty-handed and bottom of the Premiership standings as they suffered a 1-0 defeat.
Substitute Harry Forrester netted the only goal of the afternoon with just seconds to spare as the Light Blues got the rewards that their efforts merited.
Dundee spent large spells of the game on the back foot but Tom Hateley twice came close and Jason Holt made a superb clearing tackle with the game still goalless.
Forrester’s winner was a tough blow to take for Hartley and his players and midfielder McGowan insists the Dees should have added a point to their Premiership tally.
He said: “I’m just gutted for the boys. They put so much into the game.
“I felt our game plan was working. They were getting frustrated and the crowd were getting on their back.
“We had chances as well. But you need to keep going here till the final whistle. And it’s a poor goal.
“I can’t fault the boys. Honestly, from where we’ve come in the last couple of weeks, it’s just night and day. I’m proud of them.
“In the first half, they were getting down the side a wee bit. We spoke about it at half-time and we kind of nullified it.
“That’s their strength. Their two full-backs just keep bombing on and they interchange.
“They’re a good team who pass the ball well. Coming here and losing 1-0 is no disgrace but I felt we did enough to nick something.
“The boy (Holt) got a great touch when Vinny was ready to tap it in. The boys who were warming up at the side said the boy got a touch on it. That’s the luck that we’ve had.
“We’ve come off two good wins. I at least thought we deserved a draw.
“Maybe a draw would have been a fair result. It’s heart-breaking.”
