I have been asked the question often but I think you only have to look to this season to find an answer.
How will Brendan Rodgers improve upon his first season? On a straightforward level you have to say that Trebles are so rare because they are so difficult to achieve – one slip is all it takes.
It is the reason why Celtic have won so few of them. They also won it this season with a unique record of going unbeaten throughout the entire campaign, a pretty staggering achievement.
As I said before, it doesn’t matter what league you play in, at what level, going through that volume of games without being beaten is an incredible feat.
But Rodgers will not stop and rest on his laurels now. This will be seen as the foundation to go out and build again, to keep going higher and to me, and to most Celtic fans, that means progress in the Champions League.
It is Europe’s elite competition and it is where Celtic belong. Getting into the group stages is the first and primary objective and then what follows remains to be seen. But there is no question that is where the bar is set, while also keeping an eye on domestic matters.
For the foreseeable future, it is difficult to image any team in a domestic sense being able to cope with Celtic because they just have too much about the,.
Aberdeen did very well for the first hour at Hampden – had Kenny McLean scored to make it 2-1 it would have made for an interesting second half – but Celtic bombarded them in the last half hour with the goal always coming.
They will look to maintain that dominant streak while also looking to leave a mark in the Champions League.
