English Championship side Barnsley have entered the race for the signature of Partick Thistle defender Liam Lindsay.

TimesSport understands that The Tykes have made an official approach to the Firhill club, after an offer from Oxford United of £350,000 plus add-ons was accepted yesterday.

The 21-year-old travelled south for talks with the U's yesterday, but with doubts over the future of Oxford manager Michael Appleton, who Leicester City are reportedly targetting to become assistant manager to Craig Shakespeare, the deal is not yet over the line.
