WHILE I am all for a foreign coach being in charge of the Scotland national side, one name that I've heard touted that wouldn't be a great choice for me is former Germany superstar Jurgen Klinsmann.

Now, I have great respect for Jurgen as a footballer, he was a quite magnificent striker in his day at the top level with his country and in his thrilling spell with Tottenham, for example. I like listening to him talking about the game, and I think he has some really interesting ideas.

But you wouldn't have to ask too many fans of US Soccer their opinions on him as a coach to get a quite different perspective on him than what the perception of his record seems to be in Scotland.

I don't think it would even be a possibility in any case. The SFA were pushing the boat out to make Michael O'Neill their highest paid manager of all time, but I'm not sure that would be enough to lure Jurgen Klinsmann. He has a nice life out in California, so the job as USA head coach suited him perfectly.

Whether he would swap that lifestyle to come to Scotland for the money on offer, I'm less than convinced.
