I said it on Friday afternoon and I’ll say it again that the decision about whether or not Brendan Rodgers leaves Celtic this summer will be his and his alone.
But my gut feeling tells me that he will be at Celtic not just for next season but for the long term too.
He is like Martin O’Neill and Neil Lennon in that he is a supporter who got to go into the dug-out. I think you are winning games for the people you grew up with, the people who are still around you.
I do think there is a different feel to that, an emotional connection that you don’t get anywhere else. I also know how content he is off the pitch up here. I think he values the ability to pop out for a bit of lunch with his wife in the village where they live and I think they afforded a good degree of privacy – I think he is a guy who values his happiness off the pitch.
I don’t doubt that Brendan could probably treble his wages if he chose to head back to the Premiership this summer. I just have the feeling that his work is not finished at Celtic yet.

He won’t stay at Celtic forever. But it isn’t just soundbites when he talks about being in his dream job.
