STEVEN Gerrard is going to be a busy man this summer.

There are players to sell, sign, improve and evaluate.

And before he knows it, the first European game will be upon him.

But if there is one priority, more than any other, he must find a proper captain for Rangers.

And there is more to the job than being the first one out of the tunnel.

He has to be a leader on and off the park. He has to be the one every other player looks up to.

If there are battles to be had, then the skipper leads and the rest follow him.

For too long I have watched Rangers teams go behind and nobody on the pitch is willing, or able, to rally the troops.

In essence, what Gerrard needs to find is a player exactly like he was and, unfortunately. there aren’t too many of them around.
