Brendan Rodgers has shrugged off speculation linking him with Claude Puel’s job at Leicester.

The Foxes manager yesterday joked that punters were wasting their money betting on Rodgers taking over at the club and the Celtic manager was unperturbed with the chat.

“Someone mentioned it to me yesterday,” said Rodgers.

“It is the time of the year where you get players and managers get linked with clubs and what not.

“For me, my only concentration is here at Celtic.

“Leicester as we have seen over the last few years, an incredible journey that they have been on as a club and obviously the unfortunate circumstances that they had earlier this season.

“It is a fantastic club but for me at this moment in time my concentration is purely on Celtic and looking forward to the second part of this season.”

Meanwhile, Scott Allan yesterday signed a pre-contract agreement with Hibs. The midfielder has endured a frustrating time at Celtic after signing from Hibs in 2015.

Allan has not featured for Celtic this term and has spent the bulk of his time on loan at the club. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Hibs which will start this summer.

“Scott’s been unlucky because when he was out on loan he did well but the players who were here did very, very well,” said Rodgers.

“But he’s now at an age where he needs to get games.”

More exits are expected to follow.

“We’re working with a much smaller group because you can’t do quality work with that number of players,” said Rodgers. “All we’ve ever tried to be is open and honest with players and, if they want to go out elsewhere and play, that’ll be between them, their agents and the club to organise that.

“By the end of January there will be a lot of movement because some will want to go out and play and others will no longer be here. Currently, though, it is a big squad.”
