IT was great to see Rangers following up their emphatic 5-0 win over Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup by repeating the scoreline at Hamilton, and particularly pleasing for Steven Gerrard will be the fact they did it without star man Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers have been over-reliant on the striker this season, and it was heartening to see that they can still get goals when he isn't available.

Jermain Defoe for me has the best movement of any striker in Scotland. He is top class, and while he already has a decent goalscoring record in his short spell at Ibrox so far, he will only get better the sharper and fitter he gets.

The same goes for Steven Davis, who is one of the best players I have ever played with, and he will add to the growing goal threat from the Rangers midfield.

Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield chipped in with a couple of beauties at Hamilton, and hopefully they will start to contribute goals on a more regular basis.

The harsh truth is that it will be difficult for Rangers to hold onto Morelos in the summer. He is the top scorer in the country, and his profile is getting higher and higher with him now being a Colombian internationalist as well.

The reality is, clubs with deeper pockets will surely be looking at him, so it is important for Rangers to know that they have goals in the team when he's not around, not only for this season, but beyond.
