I WAS pleased for James Tavernier to get his goal against Celtic and to lead the team to a really impressive win. It will have meant a lot to him.

I have spoken before about him as a captain and how he is the first man to get it tight when things aren’t going well for Rangers on the park.

But the mentality that he has shown through it all has been terrific and he deserves a lot of credit for the way that he has performed this season, and the way that he has led the team as well.

He has bounced back from results that haven’t gone Rangers’ way and he is shows that he can be a leader for Rangers.

He said after the game how important a win that was for the likes of himself and Wes Foderingham. It was Wes’ first win over Celtic since the semi-final at Hampden.

Rangers have taken their fair share of sore defeats against Celtic over the last few years. So the players are right to savour what was a really impressive win at the weekend.
