Peter Grant backs Grant Snr to be success at Wasps

Morton defender Peter Grant has opened up on his dad becoming Alloa manager - insisting his experience at Celtic and Scotland will stand him in good stead.

Grant said: "I think, whichever team was going to hire my dad, was going to be very lucky to have him.

"The experience he's got coaching in the English Premier League, Celtic and Europe, it speaks for itself.

"The success he's had over the years has been fantastic.

"He deserves to be in management because of the calibre of skills he has and the experience as a coach he's got.

"His time in a Celtic dressing room and with Scotland, the boys will feel like they'll get the rub off him for having that experience and there's a lot of respect there."

Thistle hope for 'all-clear' on Aussie ace

Gary Caldwell remains hopeful of signing Mitch Austin in the next 48 hours despite a hold-up in signing off his medical.

The Australian winger underwent his medical on Friday, and was expected to sign with Partick Thistle thereafter.

The signing was delayed however due to some bruising around the player's knee, sustained in his last game for Sydney FC at the end of last season.

As the player has previously suffered an ACL injury in his career, Thistle requested and received the scans of the affected area from Australia, which are now being inspected by a specialist in Glasgow.
