Robbie Savage has started the new season as he means to go on - by having a pop at ex-Celtic star Chris Sutton.

The pair regularly clash on social media and TV over Celtic and Rangers in their roles as BT Sport pundits.

Sutton trolled Gers after boss Steven Gerrard spoke of game management and how his side threw away a number of leads during last season's Premiership campaign.

The ex-striker said: "Reading Steven Gerrard this morning..”Having analysed last season if the games had finished after 86 minutes we’d have won the league, that’s the brutal truth”...

"I was under the impression games have always lasted 90 minutes but there you go..."

But Sutton's old foe Savage was having none of it and quickly chimed in.

He replied: "Here's the [clown] starting already", with emojis.

The post racked up thousands of likes and shares with plenty fans backing the Welshman.

It's not the first time the pair have clashed over the Glasgow rivals with bold opinions.

Savage recently claimed Sutton is "obsessed" with the Ibrox outfit.

But Sutton snapped back, highlighting the fact that Savage once revealed he'd turn out for Rangers for FREE - only to be knocked back.
