RANGERS have confirmed that 19-year-old winger Glenn Middleton will join Hibernian on loan after Sunday's meeting between the two sides.

Hibs will make the journey to Ibrox on Sunday afternoon, and Middleton will join up with his new team-mates shortly afterwards.

The youngster made 29 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last season but fell out of favour during the second half of the season.

Hibs head coach Paul Heckingbottom expects to conclude the deal next week after the sides meet at Ibrox on Sunday.

Heckingbottom said: "Hopefully. Both sides are relaxed about it. We just don't want to put him in a poor position before the game on Sunday, so we'll wait and see what happens next week.

"We're speaking about a loan deal. He's got pace, good one v one, and enthusiasm and he's certainly got attributes that would help us.

"We've been looking because of Martin's injury. Boyle's standout quality is that pace and speed. So we wanted to replace that."

Following the arrivals of Jordan Jones and Sheyi Ojo - and with Brandon Barker on the brink of signing for Rangers - Middleton would have found game-time hard to come by this season and has been loaned out to Easter Road to further his development.
