A Motherwell fan has been roasted online for boasting that his side had Celtic star James Forrest "in their back pocket", before defender Kris Ajer raced in to score.

The supporter could be heard from the stands as the two sides squared-off at Fir Park.

The Steel Men had, moments prior, opened the scoring through Liam Donnelly providing a false sense of confidence for their fans.

And one jumped the gun with his statement before he could be heard yelling "aw naw" as Norwegian Ajer netted.

Shared on social media, the clip has so far racked up hundreds of likes and shares.

And plenty of football fans were quick to heap more misery on the supporter.

One laughed: "Up there with what's the goalie doing".

Another said: "Hahahahaha".

One simply praised James Forrest for his assist, adding: "That wee chip from JF, no more than a foot high, does the defender."

A fourth joked: "[Ajer] should have got fined by oor Neil for going oot of position."

Celtic won 5-2 at Fir Park thanks to Ajer, Leigh Griffiths, James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie.

Donnelly scored the second of the day for his side up the other end.
