Celtic star Leigh Griffiths has sent a message to support to his Scotland teammates ahead of their crunch clash with Russia this evening.

Griffiths, 29, was left out of Steve Clarke's 24-man squad for their double header against Russia and Belgium as he wasn't quite ready to play, according to the national manager.

But the disappointment of not having made the squad has not deterred the striker from supporting his club and country pals before their do-or-die against Russia.

He posted on social media: "Good luck tonight @ScotlandNT", with two applause emojis.

The tweet racked up thousands of likes and shares with hundreds more telling how much Scotland will miss his inclusion.

One said: "Shame, you should be wearing the number nine."

Another added: "We'll be missing you."
