City playmaker Weir, 24, wheeled away in delight as her stunner gave her side the lead in the WSL 1 at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Taking a tough from a half-cleared ball by Katie Zelem, Weir pinged a left foot strike into the top corner of the net.
A goal worthy of winning any game, City now have less than 15 minutes to hold onto their lead in a bid to seal three valuable points in their first game of the new season.
