Ex-Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha could be in line for a shock move back into football management with European giants Sporting Lisbon, according to reports.

Having just left Mexican outfit Cruz Azul after two years, the Portuguese coach is looking for a new club.

He managed to take his side to the Mexican League play-off Final back in December where they had the opportunity to win their first title in more than 20 years.

The club, under his guidance, also won the Super Cup with a comfortable 4-0 win last season.

Now, according to reports in Portugal and Mexico, Sporting are considering moving for the former Light Blues head man after sacking Marcel Keizer earlier this month.

Caixinha lasted less than a full year at Ibrox having finished his only season in charge third in the Scottish Premiership behind Celtic and Aberdeen respectively.

He also counts a devastating loss to Progres Niederkorn among his disasters as Gers boss.
