ASTON VILLA manager Dean Smith has refused to rule out a January bid for Rangers star Alfredo Morelos - and gave a cryptic clue when asked about a move for the Ibrox hitman.

The newly-promoted side have reportedly been keeping tabs on the Colombian and splashed out £22 million on Brazilian striker Wesley in the summer.

But Villa gaffer Smith is on the look-out for another forward to provide competition and has tasked his sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch to land him a new goalscorer.

When asked about a move for Morelos, Smith gave a cryptic response.

He said: "Suso's got all of his scouts out looking at things, but January is a long, long way at the moment and we've got a lot of games to play.

"Watch this space."

Morelos has bagged 14 goals in all competitions this season and has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League one day.
