Celtic hero Charlie Nicholas has reignited his war of words with Odsonne Edouard after claiming the striker must do more to show he cares.

Nicholas, 57, was full of praise for the Frenchman and maintains that he is a better all-rounder than Rangers' Alfredo Morelos.

But despite speaking highly of the striker's talents, Nicholas wants him to prove that he wants to be there.

Charlie Nicholas says Celtic star Odsonne Edouard irritates him - but he's still cut above Alfredo Morelos

In his Daily Express column, Nicholas said: " Edouard is a very elegant footballer who can finish. I just think he could do so much more to show he cares.

"He will turn up this Thursday against Lazio in the Europa League as that is the big stage and occasion he relishes."

He added: "As for the Edouard/Morelos debate, the Frenchman is a better all-round player than the Colombian.

"What Morelos has got is that bit of streetfighter in him that Edouard lacks in his game.

"But they are two terrific marksmen and Scottish football should enjoy them while they still can."

It comes a short time after Nicholas criticised Edouard for not celebrating his goals, saying it annoys him.

The Celtic star - who has ten goals in 18 games this season - didn't back down, though, and hit out at the former Celt.

He posted on social media in response: "I celebrate my goals how I want..if you don't like it. That's not my problem."
