EUROMILLIONS winner Colin Weir is closing in on a takeover of Partick Thistle, with meetings between his representatives and the current board taking place at Firhill this evening.
Weir, who pulled his financial backing for the club in August when it appeared chairman David Beattie was going to sell to the NewCity Capital investment group, previously gave his backing to a fan-owned model through the 'Thistle For Ever' group.
While still preferring a move towards the Thistle fans eventually owning the club, it is understood that he will buy shares directly from the outgoing shareholders, including Beattie.
An announcement is expected on the success of the deal - or otherwise - either tonight or tomorrow.
