Both McCrorie brothers are plying their trade away from Glasgow this season.

But Rangers goalkeeper Robby hopes to one day star alongside his brother Ross at the heart of the Light Blues starting XI.

A full season at Queen of the South in the competitive-as-ever Scottish Championship will stand the stopper in good stead.

Meanwhile his brother is fighting it out in English football's third tier in League One.

Not bad grounding for the pair, then, as they secure minutes under their belts in tough leagues.

Robby, 21, has always had a dream to play between the sticks at Ibrox.

But, bizarrely, he watched his brother do it first last season against Hibs.

Red mist descended on Allan McGregor on that Sunday afternoon and Robby admits he was nervous at watching his twin don the gloves as boss Steven Gerrard had used all three subs.

"I was at the game Ross played in goal, me and my mum were in the stands," he recalled.

"I got some amount of pelters on social media after that game but you take it as it comes.

"There's no chance you'll catch me playing at centre-half!"

Ambitious loanee Doonhamer Robby did, however, reveal he and his entire family would be proud as punch if the brothers ever did start on the same pitch for their boyhood heroes.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard told me to be selfish, says Ross McCrorie

But he'd find it difficult to play anywhere other than in goals for Gers - even if it means his Portsmouth star bro will always be considered the more versatile one.

He added: "Don't get me wrong, I'd love us both to play together one day as the spine of the team.

"Goalkeeper and centre back or if Ross is playing in the midfield.

"In the future that would be a really good, special thing for the family.

"But even if Ross has played in goals, I won't be playing outfield any time soon."
