STEVEN GERRARD is set to commit his long term future to Rangers by penning a new deal that will keep him at Ibrox until 2024.

The Liverpool legend agreed a four-year contract when he was appointed as boss last summer.

Gerrard will lead the Light Blues into the Betfred Cup final against Celtic on Sunday as Rangers bid for their first major silverware in eight years.

And the 39-year-old is on the verge of agreeing fresh terms that will see him remain at Ibrox for the next five seasons as he looks to return Rangers to the top of Scottish football.
