Celtic captain Scott Brown admitted he had ‘lost’ his Betfred Cup winners’ medal seconds after picking up the prize at Hampden.

The Parkhead skipper was celebrating after his side snatched a tenth successive trophy courtesy of a Christopher Jullien goal against rivals Rangers in the all-Glasgow clash.

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster was the real hero after he produced a string of world class saves, including from Alfredo Morelos’ penalty after Jeremie Frimpong was sent off.

But Brown proved he lacked the safe hands of his teammate after footage revealed his medal had flown off its lanyard moments after Neil Lennon’s men were presented with the trophy.

Speaking to BT Sport’s Emma Dodds after the final whistle, Brown laughed “I’ve lost it already.”

Footage posted on social media by the broadcaster shows Brown desperately looking for the accolade as his teammates celebrated their historic win.

It was Brown’s 20th trophy as a Celtic player and the tenth successive trophy won by his side since Hibernian defeated Rangers in the 2016 Scottish Cup final.
