Former Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has blasted Tom English after the BBC pundit criticised Ryan Jack for crying on the Hampden pitch.

Jack was visibly upset as Rangers lost the Betfred Cup final against Celtic on Sunday.

The midfielder was embraced by manager Steven Gerrard as he shed a tear after the defeat.

English, though, wasn't feeling too sympathetic for the ex-Dons star and claimed the "optics were not good" of Gers' star man taking the result badly.

But Jack's former teammate has snapped back at the reporter for his comments on BBC Sportsound where he question whether or not Celtic captain Scott Brown would have had the same reaction.

Langfield said: "So young men should keep their emotions bottled up and never show them.

"That's why in society we have so many problems.

"Just cause Scott doesn't do it, doesn't mean it's wrong for Ryan to do it.

"I salute Jacko for it, it's good to see how much it hurts as players are not robots."
