Ex-Rangers star Kris Boyd reckons Cristiano Ronaldo would have been proud of Nikola Katic's winner in this afternoon's derby clash at Parkhead.

The Croatian centre-half put in a stunning performance at the heart of the Gers defence and was rewarded at the other end when he powered in the second goal to seal three points for his side.

The desire to net proved enough for the defender who leapt tremendously above his marker.

And Boyd, 36, believes Juventus superstar Ronaldo would be hailed across the globe had he scored the same goal.

"If that's Cristiano Ronaldo that is getting beamed all over the world for weeks and weeks," Boyd told Sky Sports.

"It's an unbelievable leap and unbelievable header.

"Once again it capped off a fantastic performance not only from Nikola Katic but Connor Goldson alongside him was excellent too.

"Both of them deserve all the credit they are going to get."

Katic's third goal of the season confirmed a massive victory for Rangers who have cut their rivals' lead at the top of the Premiership to just two points.

Ryan Kent had given his side the lead with a brilliant sweeping finish in off the post in the first-half after Ryan Christie had missed a penalty for the hosts.

Before half-time, though, Celtic bagged themselves a leveller in controversial fashion.

Callum McGregor tried his luck from outside the box and his shot seemed to deflect off the arm of Odsonne Edouard before trickling into the back of Allan McGregor's net.

There was time for Katic to score before Alfredo Morelos was sent-off in the dying seconds of an end-to-end game that had everything for the neutral.
