New Braga manager Ruben Amorim led his side to a stunning 7-1 win in his first match then pledged to get better before they play Rangers in the Europa League.

Steven Gerrard’s men face the Portuguese outfit in the last-32 tie of the competition next month, with the first leg at Ibrox.

Amorin could hardly have wished for a better start to life at Braga after his side crushed Belenenses 7-1 away from home in a league match.

Amorin said: “It was a perfect day for me, but we have to get better in all areas. I’ve only just started and I see a lot of areas open for improvement.

“Remember, the big problem with this team is consistency and that’s why we have fallen down the league table.

“We’ve done a lot of work on the defensive side of things, but to score seven goals away from home was brilliant from us. The test will come as the season goes on and we have games in the league and in Europe, too.”

Amorin, meanwhile, was disappointed he was restricted on coaching in his own dug-out because of a lack of coaching qualifications.

He said: “I am the same person, I just don’t have the level-four badge. It’s very disappointing I have to get others to shout instructions at the players.”
