Salford City are plotting a swoop for Morton midfielder Reece Lyon.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene at Cappielow last season and made his first start in a winning game away to Queen of the South where he netted the winner.

He has played 24 games this season, scoring four times.

Scouts from Moor Lane have already watched Lyon on a handful of occasions this term and the League Two club could be prepared to make a move to take him from Greenock.

It is understood Salford manager Graham Alexander is keen on adding to his squad, though any move would likely be with the future in mind, given that they already have an abundance of midfield options.

Should Lyon make the move it would see him link up with former Scottish Premiership players Adam Rooney, Jake Jervis and Craig Conway who starred for Aberdeen, Ross County, and Dundee United respectively.
