Celtic fans have reacted in hilarious fashion to the club wishing former manager Brendan Rodgers a Happy Birthday.

Rodgers is no longer a popular figure in the east end of Glasgow after leaving the club in the middle of a title charge last season to join English Premier League side Leicester City.

Many considered the Northern Irishman's decision to be the wrong one, leaving the Hoops in the lurch as they desperately tried to seal eight titles in a row and complete a famous treble Treble.

And, after the official Twitter account posted a birthday message for their former boss's 47th, thousands of fans fumed at the post and demanded it be deleted - throwing in some choice words for Rodgers, too.

One blasted: "He did do a lot for this club but he totally blew his credibility with his disaster of an exit. It was an exit which showed no real respect for the club or its fans."

Another moaned: "Not one Celtic fan likes this guy." One added: "This is genuinely baffling."

One fan complained: "Disgrace. Get that deleted!!!"

Other supporters weren't quite so dismissive of their ex-manager, with some happy to praise what he managed for the club in the time he was there.

One said: "All Celtic fans fuming, but you can't deny he took the club to next level when he came in". Another wrote: "Invincible season will live with me forever to the day I leave this life, for that I will always thank that man for something that I will never see or thought I would see in my lifetime".

Rodgers won seven trophies during his time at Celtic as manager, including the Invincible season in 2016/17.
