Five things we learned as Celtic eased to a comfortable win at McDiarmid Park:

CELTIC FIREPOWER STRONGER THAN EVER

When Celtic are in the mood they can sweep teams away with their attacking intent. And how the Parkhead side like to turn it on against the Perthshire side; in the last nine games Celtic have now scored 30 goals without reply against Tommy Wright's side. With just six minutes on the clock when Olivier Ntcham netted the opener there was always an impression that Zander Clark would put his back out stopping to retrieve the ball so often. With the points in the bag, it dulled in the second period but by that time Celtic had put forward quite a statement.

GRIFFITHS AND EDOUARD CAN WORK TOGETHER

The partnership with Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths has genuine traction. When the experiment was first tried in the early days of the Frenchman’s time at the club the duo played like two strangers bumping into one another in the park. Performances in recent weeks point to the emergence of a viable partnership as they learn to play in tandem and work as front two. Griffiths netted with a fine half-volley as Celtic threatened to run riot in a dominant and swashbuckling first half hour while Edouard put in a fairly industrial shift. The Frenchman had one effort just past the post but there is enough in the performance of the two to suggest it is something Neil Lennon may well use with regularity in the second half of the season.

PRESSURE? WHAT PRESSURE?

Celtic are a team who respond to pressure. With three weeks to mull over the defeat to Rangers at the end of December there were ample questions asked of the Parkhead side. Their response so far has been fairly strong when it comes to posting note of their intention to hang on to their Championship credentials. The first half hour in Perth was among the best that Celtic have played since their return from the break.

TAYLOR HAS WHAT IT TAKES

Greg Taylor has struggled to make the left-back berth his own since arriving from Rugby Park at the end of the summer transfer window but a competent performance against St Johnstone may offer some food for thought for Lennon.  Taylor set up Griffiths’ goal and was also close to teeing up a debut goal for Patryk Klimala.

NEW BHOY SHOWED FLASHES

Klimala only managed to get on for the last ten minutes in fairly monsoon conditions at McDiarmid Park but he looked lively in the short time he had to impress. Keen to make an impression, the striker was close to getting on the end of Talyor curling cross at the back post and then managed to do a bit of dirty work at the other end of the pitch as he hoofed one St Johnstone effort off the line. The game finished with Klimala almost teeing up James Forrest.
