CELTIC’S Leigh Griffiths could face retrospective action for his alleged stamp on Hamilton defender Sam Woods.

The incident involving the striker split opinion about whether or not his standing on Woods should have earned him a red card.

Griffiths, who was yellow carded at the time, will find out today if the SFA's compliance officer will sanction him for the offence.

The incident also saw Hamilton’s Alex Gogic booked after he rushed to the defence of his team-mate and pushed Griffiths.

Accies manager Brian Rice said after the match he believed Griffiths – who recently forced his way back into contention following some personal issues – deserved to be ordered off.

"I don't think there is any debate it was a red card for Leigh Griffiths,” he said.

"There is no debate. But my opinion doesn't matter and the only person whose opinion matters is the referee and he called it the way he has seen it so we move on.”

Neil Lennon said post-match that although he believes his striker did not stamp on Woods, he’d “had a word” with him.

Griffiths went on to win a free-kick which saw Accies’ Jamie Hamilton ordered as Celtic ran out 4-1 winners.
