Henrik Larsson is the latest in a long line of names to throw his support behind stricken pal Jackie McNamara after his ex-teammate collapsed with a 'bleed to the brain'.

McNamara was rushed to hospital after falling outside his home and is understood to have undergone surgery yesterday evening.

Other former teammates from his time at Celtic have shared loving messages such as John Hartson and Stiliyan Petrov - both of whom have had their own health battles with leukemia in recent years. But now, Celtic's greatest ever foreign player and good friend of McNamara's, Larsson, has urged fans to pray for the former Dundee United manager.

Sharing words on Instagram, Swede Larsson wrote: "He needs all the love we can give him @jackiemac4 keep on fighting", with a love-heart and prayer hands emojis.

The post racked up more than 11,000 likes in less than six hours with fans also sharing with their hero their support and well-wishes for another. One said: "We all love the cheeky chappy Jackie, keep being strong".

Another added: "Get well soon, Jackie". One fan commented: "Come on jackie were all need u to pull through."

A fourth responded to Larsson's picture of McNamara: "Keep on fighting Jackie McNamara".

We told how teammates from McNamara's career outside of Glasgow also shared their messages as did Scottish football as a whole who have rallied behind the former Scotland cap.
