Celtic fans could hardly contain themselves yesterday evening after discovering title rivals Rangers had lost at Kilmarnock.

Supporters cheered and took part in an impromptu 'huddle' during their side's 5-0 win over Hearts at Parkhead last night when news filtered through that Eamonn Brophy had stunned Gers with a late Rugby Park winner.

And the delight continued at full-time when the official scores were read out by the stadium announcer.

The results stretched Celtic's lead at the top of the Premiership table to 10 points, though Gers have a game in hand over their neighbours. At Parkhead, Olivier Ntcham, Christopher Jullien, Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Jozo Simunovic sealed a comfortable three points for the hosts.

Meanwhile in Ayrshire Scott Arfield's stunner had given Rangers a lead heading into the second-half but his teammates capitulated and conceded a leveller to Stephen O'Donnell before Brophy struck at the death to all but KO Gers' title bid.
