Liverpool star Andy Robertson challenged teammate Virgil van Dijk to recreate his "Celtic days" with a free-kick in the top corner during training at Melwood - and the defender obliged.

The pair have plenty in common having won the Champions League and starring in the Anfield backline as the Reds canter towards the Premier League title this season.

But their Celtic link is also a pillar of their friendship with Van Dijk having spent two years at Parkhead as a player and Robertson having grown up a die-hard Hoops supporter.

In footage captured by Liverpool TV, van Dijk shaped to shoot with a practice set-piece before Robertson yelled: "Come on, Virg. Just like your Celtic days, top corner!" And the Dutchman did exactly what he was asked.

Van Dijk scored a number of free-kicks during his time as a Celtic player before he departed for Southampton. He has since became the most expensive defender in world football at Liverpool.
