Scotland Women's head coach Shelley Kerr has told of her delight at being honoured with an MBE earlier this afternoon.

The former Arsenal manager was presented with the title at Buckingham Palace.

Congratulating her on social media, the Scotland National Team posted a photo, saying: "Shelley Kerr MBE - Congratulations to Scotland Head Coach Shelley Kerr, who was presented with her MBE at Buckingham Palace today."

Kerr, 50, was also quick to thank everyone from her career for challenging her and respecting her work during her time in football so far. "Honoured, humbled and extremely proud to celebrate years of challenging moments, hard work and breaking barriers to ensure football is a game for all," she tweeted.

"Thanks to football, my family, friends, the community of Polbeth and to everyone that has challenged me; you have been instrumental in defining my character. To all the boys and men that respected me for who I am and to the girls and women that continue to inspire me.

"This day is all about you."

Kerr guided her Scotland side to the World Cup last year.
