GARY MCALLISTER reckons Ibrox would have won over Gheorghe Hagi as he saw son Ianis inspire Rangers to victory against Braga.

The Romanian legend watched from the stands as Hagi Jnr netted twice in the stunning Europa League win on Thursday night.

McAllister spoke to Hagi Snr before and after the last 32 triumph for Steven Gerrard's side and said: "I think he is really pleased because he was aware of Ibrox and of Rangers, but I think being there on Thursday night confirmed it that his son is in the right place for his development.

"The fact that there is an expectant crowd, the expectation levels are massive and you have to win every game. I think that is where he sees his son, playing in that theatre where the pressure is on continuously.

"I would say that’s another massive positive. The way he has settled is something that will bode well for the future.

"There’s no doubt that if you’re a player who aspires to play at a level and play in front of an arena like Ibrox, surely that’s where you would want to be. It’s up there amongst the very best. That’s what I think."
