They say football is a man’s game. St Mirren Women’s captain Jane O’Toole would beg to differ.
The Buddies defender dislocated her kneecap in a horror incident as her side squared-off against Inverness.
However, rather than writhe on the ground as her male counterparts have become accustomed to doing at the slightest knock, brave O’Toole proceeded to hammer her kneecap back into position before finishing the 90 minutes.
O’Toole was lavished with praise for her strength and commitment by fans from around the country. “Teach the men a thing or two,” one said.
Another added: “Oh done that twice, no way I could’ve played on.”
One commented: “That is incredible.” A fourth responded: “Fair play Jane, fair play.”
