Celtic could stand to earn a whopping £8million should Moussa Dembele leave Lyon, according to reports.

The Frenchman departed Parkhead for around £20m in 2018 and has become a valuable asset for his current outfit. So valuable, in fact, that Sky Sports report he may be allowed to leave - but only for a staggering £83m in the summer.

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been credited with an interest in the former Celtic striker. Though it is not yet known if they would be willing to fork out top dollar to land their man.

It is understood Celtic negotiated between a 10-15 percent sell-on clause in the player's deal when he moved to Ligue 1. Respected journalist Duncan Castles said on Transfer Window podcast recently: "[Dembele is] one of a very small group of strikers that are big, good in the air, also good on the deck and can score goals in various different ways. You can see the attraction.

"He's very much in play, so it's an interesting one for Celtic as they sold him for 22 million Euros, but they have a profit-clause in that deal in that they will take, I'm told, between 10 per cent and 15 per cent of any profit should he be sold by Lyon during his current contract."

Should Dembele move to the English Premier League - or anywhere else for that matter - for Lyon's asking price, the outlay of cash the Hoops would receive would represent their highest fee received in total.

It would take the fee for Dembele's sale to around £28m - roughly £3m more than they sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal for.
