HENRIK LARSSON, the all-time Celtic great, has revealed he had offers to leave Parkhead from down south - but he never entertained them.

The Swedish striker, who scored 242 goals in seven years in Glasgow's east end, eventually moved to Barcelona in 2004 where he played a key role as the Spanish club lifted the Champions League in 2006.

During his time at Celtic Park, Larsson was constantly linked with moves to England, with Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly a long-time admirer of the forward.

But speaking to Sky Sports, Larsson has insisted that he never considered leaving Celtic for the riches on offer in the Premier League.

When asked if an English club had ever made an approach for him whilst he was on the books at Parkhead, Larsson replied: "There probably was but I never got any information.

Glasgow Times:

"I was never bothered about that because I was happy at Celtic.

"We had a good team, we played in Europe. In 2003, we went to the UEFA Cup final. I was playing with the Swedish national team on and off, so I was in a happy place.

"I was earning good money, it was a great contract that I had. So, to move down south for a few more pounds a week, it wasn't interesting for me because I knew what we had at Celtic.

"I saw the manager and I think I started to understand his plan and what he wanted to do with the club."
