Chris Sutton has taken a pop at Celtic's conquerors FC Copenhagen after their late showing in Glasgow knocked the Hoops out of the Europa League.
The former Celtic striker revealed he would "eat his hat" if the Danish outfit made it through their last-16 tie against Istanbul Basaksehir.
Stale Solbakken's outfit looked average during spells over two legs against Celts but were able to turn the tide when it mattered and won through thanks to goals from Michael Santos, Pep Biel and Dame N'Doye. Odsonne Edouard's panenka penalty had given the hosts hope but they could not capitalise.
Celtic only got themselves to blame tonight... missed chances and lapses defensively... no getting away from it huge disappointment... but well played FC Copenhagen šš

Worst thing for the Celtic players tonight is they will know it was a great opportunity to get to the last 16... Iāll eat my hat if FC Copenhagen get much further... but reality checks arenāt a bad thing at times...

Sutton, who was on commentary for BT Sport at Parkhead, took to social media after the game and blasted Celtic's profligacy, saying a reality check is needed. And he also took aim at their opponents, claiming they will struggle in the latter stages.
He said: "Celtic only got themselves to blame tonight... missed chances and lapses defensively... no getting away from it huge disappointment... but well played FC Copenhagen.
