Rangers fans applauded their manager in the eighth minute of last night's clash against Hamilton to show their support.

Less than 82 minutes later they were calling for his head after a 1-0 defeat by Brian Rice's relegation-threatened outfit.

The fourth defeat of their league season leaves them with no hope of clawing back Celtic's lead at the summit - and supporters were furious.

Many suggested boss Gerrard leave his position after another trophyless season as his players succumbed to their second loss in a week. Others were simply fuming with their star men and their apparent lack of effort.

But they were all in agreement at the fact that the loss - to a David Moyo goal in the second-half - was simply not good enough. "Steven Gerrard needs to go," one said. "So does Morelos. Attitude stinks. Clear to see the pair of them don’t care about our club. Celtic FC are dominating and making us bears look stupid. It’s not on."

Another added: "I clapped on the 8th minute for Mr gerrard but after watching that , he’s not the man for the job #gerrardout".

One user wrote: "Time for change something not right," as another added: "Time for gerrard to go his name cant save him now , anyone who defends him is laughable honestly!"

One furious fan commented on social media: "There’s your reaction Stevie, these players, which you brought in btw, are not up to it, led by a weak captain and it runs throughout this team, least you got a wee round of applause tonight though I suppose...an embarrassment and a complete and utter shambles".

One fan had at least one positive to take from the game as Joe Aribo received some half-hearted praise. "Let's no single out individuals because they are all a shower of cowards," the fan commented. "The only player who looked for the ball and played well was Aribo.

"Season over, need to drop them all for remainder and play kids. No joke. Massive clear out needed."
