GARY MCALLISTER reckons it is a ‘great week’ to be at Ibrox as Rangers get set to face Bayer Leverkusen and Celtic in the coming days.
The Light Blues ended their winless run with a 1-0 victory over Ross County on Sunday and have now turned their attentions to the Europa League once again after a difficult spell domestically that has ended their silverware ambitions this season.
Leverkusen visit Glasgow for the first leg of the last 16 clash on Thursday before the third Old Firm showdown of the campaign at the weekend.
And assistant boss McAllister is relishing the challenge ahead after a much-needed Premiership win earned thanks to Ryan Kent’s second half strike.
He told RangersTV: “I think it is a big victory and it gives us a wee jolt of confidence. Confidence has been a wee bit low, which is expected when results haven’t gone our way recently.
“So it is a boost. These games are massive game, a couple of massive games at Ibrox and then we travel away so it is a great week to be a Rangers player, I feel.
“It is a challenge that we are most definitely looking forward to. We have proven that we can stand toe-to-toe with some good teams and we should use that and the confidence boost.
“The games are fantastic. Ibrox will be jumping, the atmosphere will be fantastic and there is quite a bit of competition for places. It is heating up.”
