Former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has  been forced into self-isolation at Bournemouth.

The Polish stopper, 40, is one of five members of staff at the Cherries who have been displaying possible symptoms of the deadly coronavirus which continues to sweep across the globe.

The English Premier League club confirmed the precautionary measure had been taken in a bid to prevent the potential spread.

A statement on their club website said: "AFC Bournemouth can confirm that five of its employees are currently self-isolating, having displayed symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

"Goalkeeper Artur Boruc, along with four first team members of staff, are self-isolating in line with Government and Public Health guidelines. This is a precautionary measure as, at this stage, none have tested positive for Coronavirus.

"The club continues to monitor the situation closely and to take suitable measures to ensure the wellbeing of its employees and supporters.

"Further updates will be provided as necessary via the club’s website and social media channels."

We told how ex-Rangers midfielder Mikel Arteta has been infected by the virus and it recently emerged that a player within the ranks at Hearts has also been told to self-isolate.

All of this afternoon's games have been called off as has tomorrow afternoon's Rangers vs Celtic clash as the SPFL and SFA confirmed the season has been postponed in an unprecedented decision.

Football and other sports around the world have been seriously affected, including the English Premier League and lower tiers which have also been suspended.
