Celtic hero Chris Sutton was labelled a ‘bit of a bawbag’ by former Hearts ace Ryan Stevenson.

The ex-Tynecastle midfielder wasn’t shy in revealing his first impression of the big striker when he appeared on Si Ferry’s Open Goal: Keeping the Ball on the Ground podcast.

Stevenson came across Sutton during his time at Premier League giants Chelsea and the former Partick Thistle and Ayr United man has admitted that he wasn’t a big fan.

He said: "Big Sutty was at Chelsea when I was there. When he came in, I think it was £9m, and granted he was amazing when he was up here with Celtic, but he was f****** shocking down there.”

After being quizzed on his personality in the changing room, Stevenson added: "He was a bit of a bawbag, to be honest with you.

"It was him and Mark Bosnich, to be fair.

"Chris Sutton probably wasn't caring about Ryan Stevenson at the time but at that time you had some foreign boys who didn't interact.

"Bosnich was an absolute maniac, he would come into the car park with Tupac blaring from his Merc.

"He would walk in and say 'how are you doing Ryan?'.

"Next day he would have opera music blaring in the car, I would say how are you doing Mark and he would walk right past me."

Recalling his time at Hearts Stevenson revealed a hilarious tale about his Jambos debut.

He said: "I was playing Brechin on the Saturday then in on the Tuesday sitting at Parkhead next to Mikey Stewart.

"Blacky has come in and had a pop at Christian Nade, 'Nade hold the ball up'.

"Now Big Nade is a good guy, but his work rate isn't probably what it should be. He said 'ok, Ian'.

"Then Nade's like, 'shut up Ian'. 'F*** up, Ian'. He just goes bang, knocks him into the locker.

"Mikey Stewart turned to me and just said 'welcome to Hearts'."
