THERE are no plans to award Celtic the Premiership title if the season is forced to end prematurely, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has insisted.

The 52-year-old has responded to "fake news" that claimed European football's governing body would advise its members to rule that the 2019/20 campaign is over, with each club's current position final.

There is still rampant speculation about what the solution will be but Ceferin has announced that he expects the remainder of the domestic campaign to go ahead.

The UEFA president told the Daily Mail: "I've seen and heard some again fake news that UEFA will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now.

"I can say that it's not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn't recommend anything like that to any association or league."

Scottish football has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak, with Neil Lennon's side 13 points clear of Rangers with eight games left to play.

With no clear guidance on how to finish the domestic campaign, Scottish clubs are in the dark as to how - and if - the season will be completed.
