FORMER Hibs forward Tam McManus has revealed his outrage after a report from the Scottish Sun claimed that Hearts are on the lookout for new signings - despite asking their players to take a 50 percent pay cut.

Jambos skipper Steven Naismith has taken the club up on their offer while manager Daniel Stendel has offered to work for free as the Gorgie side look to balance their books with no money coming into the club during Scottish football's shutdown.

Hearts players have been told that they can accept slashing their wages - or rip up their Tynecastle contracts and leave for nothing, if they choose to.

Defender Clevid Dikamona has already cancelled his contract in the capital, opting to return to his native France to spend time with his family during the coronavirus crisis.

The centre-back has already outlined his hope to return to Hearts once the pandemic has subsided and football has resumed.

But after hearing that the Tynecastle club are reportedly on the lookout for new signings, McManus has taken to Twitter to vent his outrage.

"Hearts approach agents for players as they say they could have money to spend," he wrote.

"This ladies & gentleman is football in a nutshell.

"And precisely why as a current player I would tell the club to F**k off with the 50% cut. PS I’m sure most will now after this."

After some users replied to him questioning the accuracy of the Scottish Sun's report, McManus insisted that it was true - because he had seen the email himself.

"Not a fan of the Sun by any means and rarely post anything belonging to them but this story is true," he insisted.

"And the email was even posted on the players chat group. Unbelievable."
